Management

Karl set up Holey Skin in 1998 with the first studio on Bath Rd.  Karl originally trained as a Body Piercer with Metal Morphosis in London.  Due to the success of the first studio, Karl then opened the second Holey Skin studio in Lawrence Hill in 2002, however retiring from piercing himself (as can be seen above!) after a bike accident seriously damaged his right hand!!!.

The general management of the business was taken over by Sara (Karl's wife and better half!!!) in 2005.  Sara, a former Marketing & Business Development Manager in the private health sector (and more recently 30 something crisis' fashion student!) was able to bring a fresh approach to the business as well as clinical knowledge.  Sara has worked to raise the standard and profile of body art in Bristol, develop and excel in clinical standards and customer service as well as raise awareness of the Holey Skin brand through Marketing initiatives - in particular this website, and furthermore source, together with Karl, 4 new acclaimed International Artists all excelling in different creative styles.

Sara & Karl expanded the studio portfolio in March 2006 with the third Holey Skin Studio on Gloucester Rd!  Gloucester Rd  is now the flagship studio, with an atmosphere and design a far cry from the stigma'ed tattoo parlour of old.  Holey Skin Studios are light, bright, funky and above all friendly and welcoming to cater for those of us who want a contemporary tattoo/piercing without the attitude, in a studio we can see into from the outside!!   In addition Holey Skin Gloucester Rd has developed the body art portfolio to include wild and crazy Hair Extensions by the lovely Jo.

Karl & Sara and their team of artists work to provide a tailored and one-to-one service to clients, always responding to email enquiries, often in length.  Body art of all types is a very personal thing so we believe in taking time to make sure clients are 100% happy with their designs and leave our studios with an individual piece of body art to show off with pride.
